New figures released today have shown that inward investment has created 1,500 new jobs a week to the UK, highlighting the Conservative Party’s drive to build a stronger, fairer economy as we prepare to leave the European Union. The Department of International Trade has indicated that nearly 76,000 new jobs were created as a result of inward investment from foreign direct investment projects in 2017-18, because of Government encouragement in these areas.
Overall the UK remained the number one destination for inward investment in Europe, with the wholesale, food and drink, electronics, and infrastructure sectors all seeing an increase in the number of new jobs. This news coincides with the Housing Secretary’s decision earlier this week to confirm a multi-billion pound boost to social housing development throughout the United Kingdom.
Boris Johnson MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip, said of this news, “The news of economic growth brought in by the Conservative Party is nothing new to me, and merely highlights the great ideas and programmes we have set forth while in Government.”
