Boris Johnson, Member of Parliament for Uxbridge and South Ruislip, was delighted to raise Hillingdon’s 55th Green Flag at Dowding Park on Friday. Hillingdon officially holds the most Green Flags in the United Kingdom.
Dowding Park was adopted by Hillingdon Council in March 2018. It is situated on the site of the old RAF Uxbridge base. It was named Dowding Park to acknowledge Air Chief Marshal Hugh Caswall Tremenheere Dowding who served as a fighter pilot and commanding officer of No 16 Squadron during the First World War. With 40 acres to explore, the site incorporates a mix of country and recreational parkland with the River Pinn running through a copse of mature trees.
Commenting on the flag raising Mr Johnson said: “Hillingdon is a beautiful Borough in which to live and work. Well done to all involved in keeping it this way!”
