HS2 has launched a new digital Jobs Board, bringing together all the opportunities to work directly on HS2 in one place. The new HS2 Jobs Board offers those looking for work or a change of career, the opportunity to search the very latest vacancies with its construction partners and station contractors delivering Phase One of the railway. The HS2 Jobs Board can be found here.
HS2 are also partnering with the Department for Work and Pensions and their local network of job centres in the Hillingdon area, to help support local people access the employment opportunities on the project. Working with the DWP and their local partners will help ensure that communities have access to these opportunities through their networks, local expertise, and support.
The construction of the new HS2 railway will create thousands of skilled jobs over the next decade and provide around 400,000 supply chain opportunities for UK businesses. HS2 Ltd and their main contractors expect to recruit for around 22,000 roles in the coming years to build the Phase One route. HS2 Ltd want to help ensure that communities living along the route can access these opportunities.
Commenting, Boris said: “As we look ahead, helping people to secure new employment is vital to our recovery and is exactly why we’ve invested £30bn in our Plan for Jobs to protect, support and create opportunities across our communities. I would encourage anyone interested in working on the UK’s largest infrastructure project to check the new HS2 jobs board, whether you work in health and safety, engineering, catering, logistics, or the many other sectors where HS2 is already creating huge opportunities.”
