Boris Johnson, Member of Parliament for Uxbridge and South Ruislip has welcomed confirmation of funding for a new hospital at Hillingdon. The new hospital is to be built as part of biggest hospital building programme in a generation. 40 hospitals will be built by 2030, backed by £3.7 billion to help deliver on the Conservatives’ election pledge.
Last year, Boris secured seed funding for The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to help them start to work up a business case to help drive forward the delivery of the new hospital. This latest announcement confirms that all the hospital trusts that received seed funding, including Hillingdon, will now all be fully funded to deliver a new hospital.
Commenting, Boris said: “I was proud to be elected at last year’s election to deliver on the people’s priorities, such as investing in the NHS. I am therefore thrilled that funding has now been confirmed to deliver a new hospital in Hillingdon – showing that, despite a challenging year, this is a Government which won’t be blown off course and will deliver on its promises to the British people."
“Since becoming the MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip, I’ve been campaigning alongside residents, NHS staff and councillors to ensure Hillingdon Hospital gets the funding it needs to redevelop the ageing site so the facilities can finally match the devotion of the staff. Last year, I was pleased to secure new funding that allowed Hillingdon NHS Trust to start to prepare a full business plan for the building work to create a new state-of-the-art hospital. This latest announcement confirms that the delivery of the new hospital will now be fully funded."
“I would like to thank Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for the progress they have made to date, and I look forward to working closely with them and all relevant stakeholders to ensure we get the building work underway on the new hospital as soon as possible.”
