The Coronavirus vaccination rollout is continuing across Hillingdon, with more local residents getting their jabs every day. Thanks to the huge efforts of the NHS, volunteers and local authorities the Government have reached our goal of offering a vaccine to priority groups 1-4 by 15 February – over 15 million people.
Hitting this target means we have now been able to offer a vaccine to those most vulnerable to COVID-19, and have seen take-up among the over 70s of over 90%. This progress marks an important milestone in our fightback against the virus. Each dose administered represents hope and a triumph of human endeavour over the virus, which has wreaked so much havoc and caused so much pain to individuals, families and communities across the whole UK.
While supply continues to be the rate limiting factor and the rollout is not without its challenges, we are now working to vaccine all priority groups in phase 1 (groups 1-9) by the end of April 2021, and then to expand the programme so all adults can be vaccinated by September 2021.
