Boris Johnson, Member of Parliament for Uxbridge and South Ruislip, visited Ruislip Manor Pharmacy last week to learn more about their pilot heart problem detecting service.
Capture AF, who offer a service to catch those with atrial fibrillation sooner when they visit their local pharmacies. The simple test is done by the patient placing their fingers on a monitor, and so alleviates some of the stress caused by tests in the hospital.
Boris went to congratulate the team who are offering this service and hear about how it will be rolled out beyond Hillingdon. In Hillingdon pharmacies, 15 patients who were at risk of stroke have already been referred to a specialist.
After his visit Boris commented: “I am proud to see such innovation within the Hillingdon community. I would like to congratulate the team responsible for this trial, and for its enormous success. I am sure we will continue to see Capture AF help more and more patients in the future”.
