Uxbridge & South Ruislip MP, Boris Johnson has welcomed the news that two local football clubs based in Hillingdon have been awarded funding to help them cover the costs of adjustments that need to be made to safely cater for the return of players and supporters to their stadia.
Isthmian League South Central Division side Uxbridge FC has received £7,000 and National League side Wealdstone FC have been awarded £20,000 from the Premier League's Matchday Support Fund.
The Matchday Support Fund is being delivered by the Football Stadia Improvement Fund (FSIF) - the grant-giving body that provides Premier League funding to support ground improvements for clubs in the professional, women's and non-league games.
Commenting, Boris said: “I recognise that football clubs, at all levels, form the bedrock of our local communities. There have been countless examples during the pandemic of football clubs across the country demonstrating their importance to their local area, volunteering both time and money during this difficult period. I am delighted that both Uxbridge FC and Wealdstone FC have been awarded this funding to help prepare their stadia for football's safe return.”
