Uxbridge and South Ruislip MP, Boris Johnson recently surprised residents with a visit to Options The Old Vicarage. The residential home located on The Greenway cares for adults aged 18-plus with an autism spectrum condition. They may also have a learning disability or require similar support.
Commenting, manager Dr Roda Jeylani said: “I was thrilled beyond belief when I received notification that Boris Johnson would be visiting our home,”
The purpose of the visit was to plant a strawberry ‘wish tree’ in the grounds, on which residents could pin their hopes and desires.
“Such trees are identified as possessing a religious or spiritual value and people come to them and make offerings to have a wish granted or a prayer heard,” said Dr Jeylani.
Speaking after the visit, Boris said: “I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and having the opportunity to speak with some of the residents and also plant a strawberry ‘wish tree’ in their lovely garden. It was clear to see that Roda and her staff are doing a great job and indeed making their residents' wishes come true.”
