Boris thanks council workers for pandemic response

Uxbridge and South Ruislip MP, Boris Johnson joined a video call with employees from Hillingdon Council's Contact Centre and coronavirus support hub on Friday 29 May.

During the call, Boris asked about the council's response to COVID-19 and the impact of the virus on local residents and businesses.

Boris listened to the experiences of staff who have been involved in supporting residents with food deliveries, welfare checks, emergency housing repairs, domestic abuse reports and befriending calls.

10 officers, many of whom have been deployed from other roles to join the coronavirus support hub, explained the challenges and rewards of providing these much-needed services.

Mr Johnson thanked the team for their efforts and fed back his gratitude for the council's "absolutely outstanding job."
