Uxbridge and South Ruislip MP, Boris Johnson recently met with staff and students at Oak Wood School to see how they have been settling in at the start of the new term.
Oak Wood School is an 11-18 mixed comprehensive Foundation School that serves the local community with 1090 pupils including 84 Sixth Form students. It is situated in the centre of Hillingdon and serves a diverse catchment area.
Boris was welcomed by Headteacher Daniel Cowling, Head Boy Ali Ali and Head Girl Lillie Walden. After meeting with staff and governors and hearing about the improvements at the school, Boris was then taken on a tour where he attended some classes and spoke with students.
Speaking after the visit, Boris Johnson said: “After all the difficulties and disruptions of recent years, it was wonderful to see young people alongside their peers once again, learning and engaging. I would like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to all the teachers and support staff at Oak Wood and all schools across Uxbridge and South Ruislip for their tireless efforts throughout the pandemic in helping to keep children and young people in school."
Head Daniel Cowling commented: “It was wonderful for the young people to meet their MP, who continues to be a strong advocate for the school.”
