Yesterday a new service was launched throughout the United Kingdom by several UK Finance members to help people report the death of an individual to multiple participatory organisations at the same time.
This new gateway service aims to make the process easier for those who have suffered a bereavement by relieving the stress around repeated notifications and enabling them to manage these at a time that is convenient. Once the online form is completed, the selected financial institutions will then contact the notifier to inform them of the next steps.
The free, online Death Notification Service is now available to anyone who wishes to notify, in a single step, one or more financial service providers that a customer has died.
Boris Johnson MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip, endorsed the programme and stated, “In times of great sadness and tragedy, the stress of caring for what is left behind by a deceased can be difficult and overbearing, I am pleased that the newly created Death Notification Service can help ease the transition period for many throughout Uxbridge and South Ruislip.”
