Update August 2020
On 28 July 2020, the Hillingdon Hospitals Trust Board approved the submission of the draft Strategic Outline Case for the redevelopment of Hillingdon Hospital to regulators. During the initial stages of developing the Strategic Outline Case, the potential different options to address the issues with the estate were considered including a full redevelopment of Hillingdon Hospital on the Brunel University site.
Based on the assessment of options to date, this identified a new hospital build on the Hillingdon Hospital site as the preferred way forward. The draft Strategic Outline Case has now been submitted to NHS England/Improvement for review and more detailed planning will commence to develop the Outline Business Case.
The Hillingdon Hospitals Trust has launched a new website dedicated to the plans to deliver a new hospital in Hillingdon. This can be found at: https://thh.nhs.uk/redevelopment/
As the scheme moves into the next stage, the Trust have started a community conversation to hear feedback from the local community, patients and stakeholders, test their thinking and develop plans further. You can get involved via: https://thh.nhs.uk/redevelopment/get-involved-and-have-your-say/
Since becoming your Member of Parliament, I’ve been campaigning alongside residents, NHS staff and councillors to ensure Hillingdon Hospital gets the funding it needs to redevelop the ageing site. I’ve set out my commitment to Hillingdon Hospital to ensure it gets the investment it needs so the facilities can finally match the devotion of the staff. High quality healthcare has always been one of my top local priorities because I’ve seen first-hand the world class work our NHS staff do in caring for your friends and family.
And that’s why I’m delighted to say that as your Member of Parliament, I’ve secured new funding in the form of Government investment that will allow the NHS Trust to prepare a full business plan for the building work to create a new state-of-the-art hospital that they’d like to deliver for local residents and patients. Once that work has been completed, this Conservative Government will release further funding to improve Hillingdon Hospital.
We also have a growing population in Hillingdon, both young and old, who rely on the hard work of our doctors and nurses and I am committed to ensuring they have the top class facilities and resources they need to continue to carry out their jobs to highest possible standard.
I meet regularly with the key health stakeholders including The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Brunel University London, CNWL, NHS Hillingdon CCG and the Hillingdon Council to bring about tangible improvements.
