I am fervently dedicated to tackling crime throughout Uxbridge and South Ruislip and constantly endeavour to ensure that I am in the forefront of the fight against lawlessness to ensure the security and peace of mind of my constituents.
As your MP I am especially keen to help support our commanders and local police as they tackle law and order problems throughout our community, ranging from knife crime to simple misdemeanors all to ensure a healthy environment for the families and people of Uxbridge and South Ruislip. I meet regularly with the local police commander to discuss local priorities and continue to offer them my full support for all the work they are doing across Hillingdon and the West Area to help reduce crime and protect the public. This includes giving them the powers, kit and backing they need – like extending their powers to stop and search and reviewing sentences so that we can keep serious criminals in prison for longer.
As a former Mayor of London, I understand the need for visible police presence on our streets. I am pleased that the recruitment of the 20,000 new police officers is now well under way. Over 530 new probationary officers have joined the West Area (Hillingdon / Hounslow / Ealing) since 1st January 2020. This will help keep crime levels low. In addition, Uxbridge has recently seen the deployment of a brand-new town centre team consisting of one Inspector, three Sergeants and twenty-one PC’s. Together with the Government’s Beating Crime Plan, which is designed to make streets safer, increase confidence in our justice system and better support victims, this local policing boost will provide further reassurance to local residents.
In the meantime, I continue to support the campaign to make full use of Uxbridge Police Station, including the reopening of its 24-hour front counter.
